When I'm asked whether I want to have a party for the Big Game, I'm usually pretty torn. I enjoy hanging out with friends and family, and I sure enjoy eating, but I would almost rather watch nothing than have football on the TV. I don't actively dislike football--I just don't care. The more I think about it, though, the more attractive the idea becomes. Whether or not you're into what's happening on the field, throwing a little shindig could just be in your best interest. Here's why:
Why a Big ... [Read more]
Nobody on their deathbed has ever said "I wish I had spent more time at the office".

I work at a company which acts as an online ticket marketplace for virtually every entertainment event in my (or anyone else's) area. And yet, when I question my friends, I don't attend significantly more concerts, sports, or theater than they do.
This must change.
I love music. I know no one says "I hate music," but I really, truly do love seeing live music performed. And a l... [Read more]

After a wild weekend of conference championship games, the 2013 14 NCAA Bowl Game Matchups were announced and this year bowling season looks to be as wild as ever.
The biggest shock of Saturday's conference championships was the Ohio State Buckeyes losing for the first time this season in the Big Ten Championship Game to the Michigan State Spartans. The loss was especially painful for fans of Ohio State because it meant they wouldn't get a chance to play for a National Championship. After Aubur... [Read more]

It is October, and once again the month is awash with pink. Pink pens, pink water bottles, pink ribbons and pro athletes, like NFL players and the NBA’s Sacramento Kings, are donning pink game apparel. On Thursday night, one side of the White House was lit up pink on one side for breast cancer awareness. While I appreciate the sentiment and effort for awareness, I can’t help thinking: Is all the pink for breast cancer awareness worth the while?
Those i... [Read more]
The 109th edition of the World Series kicks of later tonight at Fenway Park when the Boston Red Sox host the St. Louis Cardinals. The Series pits two of baseball's most historic franchises from baseball cities and matches up the teams tied for the best record during the regular season, 97-65. It is first time since 1999 that the two teams with the best records have met in the Series, and this marks just the third time in history ('49 and '58) that the World Series teams have had the same record.... I remember when October 31 used to be this magical time of year after the autumn leaves had fallen, leaving a technicolor, crisp blanket to crunch under our feet as we collected our candy bounty from neighborhood houses. We often slipped on a plastic mask and un-breathable costume to dress up as our favorite cartoon characters, like Spiderman or Tweety bird (yes, I was a repeat offender), Or we’d take it a step further by painting our faces, wearing a black... The 2013 American League Championship Series shifts to Detroit on Tuesday following one of the biggest swings in momentum in playoff history. After being all-but-no-hit in game one, the Red Sox were down 5-1 in the eighth inning in game two, just four outs away from heading to Detroit down two games to none with what was supposedly an unstoppable offense that had been rendered powerless.
Instead, David Ortiz did what David Ortiz does and blasted a Joaquin Benoit fastball into the bullpen for a ... [Read more]
