Day 1 - Friday, August 3
Deerhunter lead singer Bradford Cox took the Tree stage Friday afternoon as his folk-tronic alter ego Atlas Sound and announced that his equipment hadn’t made it to the venue. Anyone familiar with Cox’s admittedly “unhinged” stage presence and the recent “Sharona-Gate” episode back in March when Cox donned a ski mask and launched into an hour-long cover of the Knack’s “My Sharona” shuddered at the thought of another meltdown but Cox graciously spared us the... Radiohead Tour Dates
Did you miss the W.A.S.T.E. pre-sale last week? No worries, Radiohead tickets are still available for most King of Limbs tour dates. For a long time fans have been asking the band to play B-sides and rarities, and after years of touring, Radiohead have finally heeded the call. They’ve unveiled never before heard live versions of "Meeting in the Aisle" and "The Amazing Sounds of Orgy" from the OK Computer and Kid A/Amnesiac sessions, introduced new tracks "Cut a Hole," "Id... Officially known as the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, Coachella is hands-down one of the year’s best festivals in terms of weird names, multiple days of camping in hard to reach locations, and most importantly, killer line-ups. The Black Keys can do no wrong. For the first single off their new Danger Mouse-produced album El Camino, Bob Dylan’s son Jesse directed part-time security guard Derrick T. Tuggle in the week's most viral video.
Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney may be the hardest working men in the music business. After a tour and Grammy wins for their last album Brothers, the Black Keys went right back into the studio to record their as yet untitled follow-up with the ubiquitous Danger Mouse which is due out toward the end of the year and they just released this trailer for a second installment of their hip hop project BlakRoc. The first album featured the dirty, blues-inspired riffing that the Keys have become known fo... [Read more]
Fans of The Black Keys’ 2008 Danger Mouse-produced Attack and Release are in for some thick, freaky good news. This week the band announced that they had finished their seventh as-yet-untitled studio album, once again under the influence of Danger Mouse. Singer/guitarist Dan Auerbach said that the album sounds more like Clash-inspired punk and garage rock than their trademark soul and is much faster than anything they’ve ever done. One new song called Little Black Submarine even soun... [Read more]
