5. M.I.A. at the Superbowl
Some of us had a good year, some of us had a bad year, and some of us got upstaged at the Super Bowl when M.I.A. flipped the bird in the middle of our set. Madonna falls solidly into that last category. In the endless string of calculations that Madge’s career has become, her secret cadre of Kabbalah oracles couldn’t possibly have predicted that M.I.A. of all people would take the opportunity to make a statement on the world’s largest stage. Except, there she is in ... [Read more]
With the arrival of Princess Roc-A-Fella and the return of her svelte figure, Beyonce is chomping at the bit to get back on stage where she was last seen during four intimate nights at New York’s Roseland Ballroom in August 2011 performing her latest album 4 along with hits from the Destiny’s Child back catalog. Some of the highlights included Beyonce’s nonchalant unveiling of her baby bump after her performance, Tyler the Creator’s Best New Artist win and prof... [Read more]
Beyonce’s latest album 4 dropped. Reviews ranged from good to lukewarm. 4 finds Beyonce channeling Prince, Adele and M.I.A. but there are no show stoppers along the lines of Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It). She did leave us with this gem of a video for Girls (Who Run the World). Keep an eye out for the hyenas. In other news, rumor has it that Beyonce may team up with Leonardo DiCaprio to star in Clint Eastwood’s latest film, a remake of A Star Is Born.
