1. "Be Our Guest" from Beauty and the Beast - This is perhaps the quintessential feast scene from the musical theatre canon. The movie pulled out all the stops, unleashing an animated firestorm of popping champagne bottles, dancing dishes, and entree after steaming entree. The stage musical recreates the scene in real life with some very impressive costumed dancers. 2. "Food, Glorious Food" from Oliver! - After breaking our hearts with an iconic scene where poor Oliver asks for more of that nas... [Read more]
I recently heard that one of my favorite shows, Wicked, was poised to take over the 11th spot on the list of longest-running Broadway shows (overtaking Miss Saigon). I'm excited that it's so close to cracking the coveted top ten, but this also got me thinking about how shows manage to attract audiences for so long. But now that I am home, I find myself reflecting and looking back at experiences that have become memories. As a theatre fan, I was excited to see what live shows I could take in while making my way through the parks, especially since many of... [Read more]

Broadway is really a remarkable place, but luckily, the most successful of these shows often pick up and take i... [Read more]

Theatre Review: Mary Poppins

October 1, 2012
Over the past several decades, Mary Poppins has been a cherished part of the lives of millions of children around the world. The original 1934 stories by P.L. Travers and the classic 1964 film starring Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke have kept the story alive and relevant, and now, the Broadway musical is enchanting a whole new generation of fans, young and old alike. Thankfully, the stage version of Mary Poppins preserves nearly every song from the film. Favorites like "Chim Chim Cher-ee," "Jol... [Read more]
