For those of you who are avid country fans, I'm sure you're aware that the ACMs took place this past Sunday, April 6th. Not to be confused with the CMAs, which I'm sure for most of us, it is still difficult to decipher the difference between the two. So here's a cheat sheet to understand the similarities and differences between the two organizations.

CMA: Country Music Association
  • Founded in Nashville 1958, First country music organization to be formed
  • Initially dedicated to Nashville music makers
  • Broadcast on ABC
  • Awards take place in Nashville, TN
  • Typically presented in October or November

ACM: Academy of Country Music
  • Founded in 1964, First country music organization to present awards
  • Originally formed as the Country and Western Music Academy
  • Broadcast on CBS
  • Awards take place in Las Vegas, NV
  • Typically presented in April or May

Both organizations tend to serve close to the same purpose, with awards presented according to the voting by each organization's members, for typically the same award categories. However, the CMA organization also founded an annual CMA Music Festival, first launched in 1972. The fair was created for fans, bringing together numbers of country music artists with various performances and activities like pictures and autographs. This year, it takes place June 5-8 in Nashville, but you will have to wait until November for the 47th CMA Awards. At this year's 49th ACM Awards, it was announced that next year's 50th ACM Awards will be moving to the Dallas Cowboys' Stadium in Texas, rather than taking place in Las Vegas. With that in mind, here is the recap of this year's ACM winners...
