SXSW: Live Coverage

Initial reports pouring in from South by Southwest (SXSW) suggest that the once exclusive rendezvous of the indie rock glitterati has essentially jumped the shark. The thrill may be gone, but SXSW still sounds like a good party. Performances by Jay Z, Bruce Springsteen, Skrillex and an endless scrolling list of bands you’ve never heard of playing in bicycle shops and retail store back lots more than made up for the spilt beer, overcrowded venues, unbridled pretentiousness and homeless people used as mobile hotspots that threatened to steal the show. NPR’s line-up alone is enough to out name-drop the most annoying cowboy boot-wearing, loud-talking-hipster in the room.
