On May 26, 2010, the TicketLiquidator team volunteered to garden for several hours at Family Life Education in Hartford, CT. Family Life Education is a nonprofit organization that provides parenting, family and social support, ESL education, day care, employment advising, healthcare support and advising to young and underprivileged families in Hartford County. Family Life Education depends on donations and grants in addition to the work of volunteers for its operations. Family Life Education works closely with the community to provide a Nurturing Families Network which includes risk assessment, development screening, prevention services and home visits.
This organization relies on local gardener and physician Dr. Joanna Gerber for grounds beautification. The TicketLiquidator team shipped out to help Dr. Gerber prune, weed, rake and dig the garden and surrounding grounds at Family Life Education. We would like to thank volunteer coordinator Juliany Polar for setting up this volunteer opportunity and Dr. Gerber imparting her extensive knowledge of botany on our staff and her patience while we learned!
