Centennial Olympic Park was constructed as a monument to the 1996 Olympic Games which were held in Atlanta, and serves two purposes; one, as a memorial for the explosion which occured during the Games, and two, as a beautiful reminder of the excellent show Atlanta presented to the world when they hosted this famous athletic competition. There are all kinds of special events happening year-round, thanks to the gorgeous Georgia climate, such as art exhibitions, outdoor concerts, lighting ceremonies for specific holidays, and much more. Centennial Olympic Park is a peach of a place which we know you'll absolutely adore, and it plays a major role in the "Springtime" celebrations we enjoy down here in the south. Atlanta's famous Peachtree Street cuts right through the center of the city, and numerous peach trees can be seen blossoming explosively, as tourists wander, amazed among the lushness of our southern climate. Allergy sufferers are easily able to participate, with a small dash of medication and our gorgeous Atlanta air conspiring to make this a special time of year for everyone!

It won't take long to find world class entertainment in Atlanta. Plenty of top performers have played shows in the city, such as Aerosmith, The Police, and Barry Manilow and if you don't mind traveling outside the city, you can pick up some Justin Bieber tickets Duluth right here!

But if the sizzling Atlanta, Georgia climate and the lovely trees and plants of our southern home aren't your thing, you can try some seriously cool Atlanta culture at The King Center. The King Center is a hub for a number of interesting Atlanta histories, which converge at this civil rights powerhouse. The civil rights legend Martin Luther King, Jr., is honored at the King Center, but there are also "real time" community service programs operated out of this splendid Georgian place. There are several components to this awesome historical site, including the Ebenezer Baptist Church, which was founded in 1886. Both Martin Luther King Sr. and Jr. delivered their moving sermons at the unnassuming brick church, and the spirit of these southern giants can still be felt resonating about the hallowed structure. The church is open for tours and notable events year-round, and is highly recommended to students of American and Atlanta history. Not to be missed is the The fountain at the King Center, which serves as a symbol of the nonviolence, peace, and tranquility with which Dr. King's philosophy was steeped, and which he himself practiced meticulously and encouraged others to emulate. Martin Luther King's birthplace and home are all part of this inspirational Atlanta center, which constitutes some of the most significant cultural and historical moments in the history of the United States of America.

Atlanta and the south are blessed with their fair share of literary drama, and none is so well-known as the novel, "Gone with the Wind". Here in Atlanta, you can visit the home of Margaret Mitchell, the author of "Gone with the Wind." Margaret Mitchell was born in Atlanta, and grew up surrounded by tales of old Atlanta and the battles of the American Civil War. The Center for Southern Literature is also housed at the Mitchell House, and there are regular readings by famous contemporary Southern writers, such as Jim Grimsley and Anne Rivers Siddons. This is an Atlanta gem, and anyone interested in the rich literary history of the city shouldn't miss this fantastic place where great minds have dwelled.

While we're on the historic theme, a mention of The Fox Theatre is necessary. The Fox Theater is one of Atlanta's most valued historic sites, as its record as a venue stretches back to the early days of the city. The Fox Theater began its long life as a movie theatre, and has been renovated into the wondrous and elegantly artistic building it is today. renowned Broadway shows, concerts, and other special events take place at the Fox, which still shows films to the present day. Imagine stepping back in time, to a gilded era where all things are grand and ooze an ineffable quality, with elaborately curved architecture, furniture, and seating, but which also stages modern performances by some of the most accomplished artists in current entertainment circles - and you have the Fox Theater!
